The Boston Ale is part of Sam's Brewmaster's Collection and is just another fine example from Sam Adams. This is a medium body ale that pours amber with the aroma of sweet toffee and nutty malts. Also, in the background there are some floral notes. The flavor is balanced and more so than their Boston Lager. Sams's lager to me seems to be brewed with more floral hops. The Ale is a refined mixture of malts and hops. However, the ale finishes in a similar way to the lager. To me it seem Sam uses the same variety of hops as the lager and adds to a nice finish. The biggest difference was the lager finished with more sourness. The mouth feel is velvety and the carbonation more on the lighter side. Overall, this is an excellent ale but not remarkable or extremely interesting. Personally, I prefer the Boston Lager.
