For me Ruddles is another good example of an English ale and is a great substitute for Caffrey's; since the last time I checked that was still not available in the US. Though, this is not exactly like Caffreys it hints of it because it is a creamy and smooth ale. Ruddles pour a crips copper color with a creamy-white head. The aroma was buttery-toffee and caramel balance with some fruity notes such a apple. The flavor is clean - starting with the malts and finishes with the right about of bitterness from the hops. I found this to be a very earthy beer that has a lot of dimensions that changes as the beer warms.
