Magic Hat with their Odd Notion is for those that like their winter seasonal beer heavy, full flavored and a 7.5% ABV soul warming experience. Odd Notion poured a dark-muddy amber with a weak, big bubble head. As soon as I poured this, I could smell chestnuts, sweet brown sugar with notes of molasses. I could taste a lot of roasted nutty and honey flavors. The alcohol was also apparent and expected. Without a doubt this is a strong flavored winter ale with its syrup like consistency and high alcohol content. To me, drinking Odd Notion was like walking the streets of NYC during the holiday season and the street-cart vendors roasting chestnuts. Personally, I am not one for heavy beers, but I did like it for what it was.
