This was recommended by a guy at my beer store who likes the super hoppy IPA. I will sawy that West Coast was a great beer. It is hoppy floral and fruity. It also is super smooth to drink with a wonderful bitter kick and the finish that actually burned a little. This poured hazey unfiltered amber with a frothy head. The aroma was an explosion of hops. The hops were berry like and were a treat on the nose. First thing I tasted were blueberry and strawberry notes with just a touch of sweetness. The base malt ale was smooth, creamy and rich. The hops were well integrated into the caramel malts and did not give the impression the hops were thrown into the brew as an afterthought. The beer finished with an almost acid bitterness that slightly burned going down. Sort of like doing a shot of vodka. It certainly made for a sharp finish. This was such a nice quality because initially the beer was super smooth and creamy. I also could not taste the alcohol at all given this was 7.0% ABV. There was a little grittiness to the texture that was interesting along with a good amount of carbonation. Green Flash Brewing has created a great IPA and this will be added to my list of favorite IPAs. Hoppy, smooth, creamy and bitter. It does not get much better than this.
