I have tried another French beer and was left a little disappointed. The Biere D'Alsace, France was worth trying if only for the cool bottle and pop-top.

The ale poured very cloudy with a large amount of very dry head. The aroma was very yeasty with lots of bread and wood like notes.

As for the taste, with an ABV of 6%, the alcohol is apparent but does not detract from the drink. The flavors were a combination of the breads I wrote of earlier and hints of sweetness that I could not pinpoint i.e. apple, wine, pears.

This was a medium to light body beer that was a stew of contrasting flavors.

There was no doubt in my mind that this was a French beer. The amber beer reminded me of Autumn as it seemed to me the brewer threw a lot of ingredients into the wort to preserve what was harvested.

Overall, not a bad beer and certainly worth trying. I just was not in the mood when I tried this - for a drink with a cacophony of flavors. I was wanting a beer with more balance.

"Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

-- Benjamin Franklin

The Beer Prayer
Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
They will be drunk,
At home as in the tavern.
Give us this day our foam head,
And forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer,
The bitter and the lager,
Forever and ever.
Amen
