This is the third Dogfish I have tried and their version of an Indian Pale Ale is fantastic. 60 Minute IPA is the type of beer to have on hand for any occasion.  As IPAs go, this was rather mild.  The bitterness was muted but the hops were very fragrant.  The nose of the beer gave this drink its IPA character; however sweeter malts defined the flavor profile and tempered the hops.

60 Minute IPA poured a light golden-amber, with a weak white head.

The likability of this beer starts with the nose of the beer and just got better from there.

The aroma was hoppy, however there was also a buttery sweetness that complemented the sharp hops. As expected the hops were very floral and especially bright in this IPA.

For an IPA, this was not face puckering bitter. However the hops hit me from all directions. With each sip, the nose of the beer erupted with hops and only made the hops flavors on the tongue stronger. The beer was a really good balance of slightly sweet malts and floral hops. I really liked how the malts cut down the sharpness of the hops. Even though this is an IPA, neutralizing the hops bitterness really worked for this beer drinkability.

The texture of the beer was also very buttery and that contrasted well with the good amount of carbonation that tickled the tongue.

This is not a complex IPA or a great example of the style but 60 Minutes is just an overall excellent drink.

Name: Ted | Comment: I had this beer for the first time today. This beer pours a medium-light golden color with a slight hue of amber. It is a straight IPA with perhaps just a little bit taken off as it is Dogfish Head's flag ship brew and is therefore geared a little more towards the mainstream. It has a fair amount of that "grassy" hops taste and a very noticeable nose that is complimented by moderate bitterness. The bitterness while medium strong I actually really liked because it gives it that classic crispness that I look for in a good brew. It also had a streak of a sort of malt or honey experience. This undertone, which isn't too noticeable, gives the beer a little more balance and depth and is slightly reminiscent of a Belgium brew or a beer like Stella Artois. Overall expect a real beer that “drinks darker than it looks.” It has a good nose, good complexity, great balance and great overall taste-- that is if you like that grassy taste that comes with you classic hopped up brew.

Name: Jack | Comment: If you like this one, definitely try the 90 minute version.

It's slightly more bitter, but definitely has more kick (ABV) that is !!

"Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

-- Benjamin Franklin

The Beer Prayer
Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
They will be drunk,
At home as in the tavern.
Give us this day our foam head,
And forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer,
The bitter and the lager,
Forever and ever.
Amen
