What a great, interesting wheat beer. This was shipped along with Dieu du Ciel - Route des Épices from Beer of the Month Club as part of their June selection . According to the BOMC newsletter this was an award winning beer at the 2007 Festival Mondial de la Bière, Montréal and it deserved it. This is that good of a beer and I hope to find Dieu du Ciel's (translates as God in Heaven) other beers locally. Rosée d'Hibiscus poured a cloudy dark rose-amber with a pink big bubble head with good retention. The aroma smelled of raw wheat (No banana notes) and with some citrus 7-Up like sweetness. It reminded me of the Cherry 7-Up both in look and aroma. The flavor was tart and sweet. Rosée d'Hibiscus was fruity with peach, raspberry and cherry syrup flavors kicked-up with a good balance of light coriander and clove spices. There was also just a touch of lemon adding brightness. This was almost like a Champaign Kir Royale as it was dry and sweet at the same time. The body was medium to light with a fair amount of carbonation. The good carbonation and the color along with the dry-sweetness made this seem almost like a wine cooler. However the wheat flavors affirms this a real beer. In concept this was like Fraoch Heather Ale. In this flower infused beer the hibiscus made this very tropical. Rosée d'Hibiscus did not come across as gimmicky either. Much like their black pepper enhanced Dieu du Ciel - Route des Épices, Rosée d'Hibiscus was unique without coming across as contrived. PS: This brewer has really cool bottles; so French and Canadian this beer can only come from Québec.
