Champions Tour Golf First Time In The Dominican Republic

The Champions Tour is playing for the first time in the Dominican Republic. The event is the Cap Cana Championship being played at the Punta Espada Golf Club in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic.

The purse is $2 million dollars, first prize is $300,000. This is around the tour avearge for both Purse and winners share.

The wind was the biggest factor in the first round today. The scenery is beautiful. The ocean is in play on several holes adding to the difficulty factor.

Bernhard Langer, a favorite, is 2 over after the first round. Gary McCord, popular golf announcer, is -1 to par after round one. Jay Haas is -2 today and Mark Wiebe at -5 par is the day one leader in the clubhouse.
