Automotive - Government Regulatory and Independent Consumer Information Organizations

    >>
Comments: 0
The following websites are for major governmental departments regulating their respective automotive industry. Specifically these government bodies regulate safety, emissions and fuel economy.

Also included are independent organizations which conduct vehicle testing and provide the public information, primarily related to vehicle safety. These consumer information groups are important because the information they provide to the public, encourage manufacturers to design vehicles that perform well in their series of tests. As a result these organizations impose a non-mandatory form of regulation.

In today's increasingly global environment, harmonization of regulations and non-mandatory requirements has become a significant concern for vehicle manufacturers. In the future, this will push more cooperation between governments to commonize requirements.
