Method for installing LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) on your Debian Linux box.

Note: I do not use PHPmyadmin or other such interface software, I prefer to work in command line.

# apt-get update

# apt-get install apache2-mpm-prefork apache2-doc lynx ca-certificates

Now you need to edit your apt sources list.

pico /etc/apt/sources.list
or use gedit, vi, nano

Once you add the new sources, simply follow the next lines.

add:

deb http://dotdeb.pimpmylinux.org/ stable all

deb-src http://dotdeb.pimpmylinux.org/ stable all

# apt-get update

# apt-get install libapache2-mod-php5

# apt-get install mysql-server

# apt-get install php5-mysql
