Starting To Paint Kitchen Drawers

Today we officially started on the kitchen - or at least on some of the drawers. The kitchen cabinets are of nice wood, currently they are painted white - or at least some beigeish, aging yellowish white which isn't too bad, but a fresh coat of paint really does wonders.

Wanting to keep the kitchen light, I have been debating for some time regarding what color to choose. Well, I wanted white, but should they be light gray white (a bit cooler), or antique white (a bit warmer)? I finally settled on antique white, as opposed to white white, wanting to create a small contrast between the white subway tile we're planning on putting on the wall as well as other trim.

So today I took some of the drawers out, sanded them lightly, cleaned them out and painted them. And the drawers look so much better already. The antique white is just gorgeous, if you can describe white that way. It feels smooth, creamy and still very whitish, without being clinically so.

Tomorrow I'll continue with the rest of the drawers plus cabinets and shelves, and soon we'll start on the subway tile for the walls.
