Here comes a postcard from my sister, who lives and studies in Uppsala, Sweden. She recently got her first DSLR and sent me some pictures she took as she was playing around with the camera, capturing some of her surroundings...

My sister lives in this big house with a whole bunch of other students. The house is basically located downtown right next to this river.

In her room there are lots of charming details such as this old tile fireplace which is quite common in older Swedish houses. In the 70s a whole lot of these tiled fireplaces were removed to "modernize the space" - what a shame! One of these add so much character and is also a lot more energy efficient than traditional heat sucking fireplaces, if you actually use it to make fires. She lights candles in hers which I think is a great way to use it.

Here is an interesting wallpaper on the wall in one of the common areas.

Displaying of her earrings. Isn't this such a neat idea! I love how this becomes like a piece of art on the wall, plus you actually get to see your jewelry, even when you're not wearing them!

Uppsala is an old University down just north of Stockholm. Here is an old church from the 13th century, plus interesting details on the bridge over the river located close to her house.

Old pedestrian street with restaurants and shops, plus the oldest university in Uppsala, Gustavanium which was built in the 1620s and is now a museum.

Isn't Uppsala charming, and I do love the house she lives in! Thanks for the sneakpeak!
