New Window Rods for the Living Room

We're now at the stage in the living room where we can comfortably work with the icing on top of the cake! That is, we're done with all the major stuff; we have our bookcases, sofa, chair, coffee table, tv stand etc etc... The floors are done and the walls are painted and wall-papered. So, what's left (hm... just that indication is rather despressing, as if there is an end to a space, shouldn't it be a constant work in progress?) Well, all those fun, small touches that make a space feel personal and special is what we have left to focus on. So, first out we have new window rods.

Since the bookcases are built in around the window, it doesn't leave much space to attach a rod on the sides. Instead we attached the rod to the casement of the window.

These rods are from the store where we spend way too much of our time and money: Home Depot. It's from the Levolor Signature Series and is called Heritage. I really like the distressed metal look. In some ways I prefer brass, but in the living room we have the ceiling fan in silver finish, and in order to tie everything together it seemed better to go for a nickel finish. Plus, I think the antique finish more than makes up for the lack of golden tones...

The large window. The rods can definitely be stretched out a bit on the sides, otherwise they look rather perfect. So now, all that's missing is some drapes.

A hint of what's to come...
