Lately I have been thinking of starting a series of paintings that combine useful and practical information with nice design. Often times paintings and art mainly exist for the purpose of being visually interesting, and while that can be wonderful in many ways, I figured it would be intriguing to create a series where the focus goes beyond that. I'm thinking of these pieces as art you would want to hang on your wall because of the visual context, but that can also provide some practical benefit. I would definitely count my Periodic Table painting in this category and now next up I have been working on this Measurements Conversions piece.
This painting breaks down the conversions between teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, fluid ounces and milliliters.
When picking the color scheme I was picturing a French country kitchen with tableware and furniture that would reflect these shades.
Too bad we have such a small kitchen with very little wallspace!

I really like how this one came out: the contrast between the colors and overall design.
