Finishing Kitchen Cabinets, Shelves & Drawers - Check!

Finally! The process of working on our kitchen cabinets is over. If you recall, we had to re-do our cabinets, shelves and drawers because the paint started to peal off where we hadn't done a good job sanding, so we were basically back to square one.

And this process of sanding, painting, doing touch up and then finally, putting these cabinets up, has felt like a never ending, dragged out process that we couldn't be happier is over. The floors almost felt like they were quicker! Of course we didn't exactly put in 10 hour days in terms of these cabinets, so they probably weren't, but they certainly were annoying. Once we were done with the booring sanding - painting job we got to start on the fun part: putting them up and seeing the result of our efforts.

We got new hinges. First we were thinking of using the old ones, mainly because we couldn't find any new ones that fit the old holes exactly, so we attempted to strip the paint of the old ones, and it was basically just a mess. So, we moved on and got some gorgeous new hinges. We had to putty up the old holes and paint over, and these were a little more annoying to put up, but it worked out well in the end.

Nice, new and shiny!

Inside of the cabinets.

New hardware (Martha Stewart line at Home Depot).

The finished result with our new stainless steel counter and sink, plus of course the new painted cabinets with hardware!

At this point we could start some more fun parts... like putting liners in the drawers!
