Grouting The Subway Tile

So as we are done tiling, we were getting ready to grout. We chose a grout called "Alabaster", it's an off white color that is still very light, but will provide some contrast against the white tile. At first we had bought a dry grout that had to be mixed, but after having such good results with a premixed adhesive, we decided to go for the same type of product for the grout.

Grouting a wall up high was a little tricky. We were laughing and laughing because it felt like it was raining grout - before we got the hang on how to do it, it just kept falling down as we were trying to apply it.

So we basically used a grouting float to push the grout in to the grout lines in sweeping motions, then after doing a small area we cleaned it off with a damp sponge. This grout is so sandy! After doing this a little while, it felt like this stuff was everywhere: on the walls, on the floors and on our clothes...

The grout dried a little darker than it went on and we're very pleased with the result. Tomorrow we're going to clean up - do some touch up painting on cabinets, ceiling, windows etc... and do some caulking.
