Done Sealing Tile, Painting, Caulking & New Kitchen Lights

Much work has been done in the kitchen this last week. First of course there was the tiling, then grouting, lots and lots of cleaning along the way, and then finally when the basic job was done, we had all the little finishing touches to work on. Cleaning and scrubbing tile, then sanding and patching up cabinets and drawers that had gotten some grout or adhesive on it, not to mention the ceiling (!) as well as painting doorways and windows.

Then lastly, yesterday and today we have sealed the tile with a spray which is supposed to make the grout more stain resistant and also gives it an even shiner look.

To finish it all of, caulking needed to be done. This made a very big difference - where previously there were gaps between tile and the wall, caulk magically filled it in and made everything look seamless. Our sometimes less than perfect tile cutting skills were hidden very effectively with caulk! We used a silicon-acrylic blend caulk especially made for kitchens and bathrooms, and while it seems like a really nice product, it was super tough to squeeze out of the tube with the caulk gun. Caulking the whole kitchen in all seams took a LONG time and required tons of elbow grease!

We also found some really nice track lights to put up. This is what the hole in the ceiling from the previous lamp looked like. It appeared as if it hadn't been touched in 60 years, and that was probably the case.

In the process of doing touch up painting.

Done! Tiling, grouting, cleaning, sealing, caulking & new lights. Now, we only have the floor left to do.

Love the white, the stainless steel and the subway tile - what a difference the hardware makes too!! So many great elements brought together.
I dream of having a white kitchen... someday : )
Would you mind sharing your source for the track lights - they look so good.
Thanks so much!!

We picked up the lights from Home Depot. We looked around the lighting area recently and I think they still carry them.
